Key: m/s = metres per second
f/m = feet per minute
  1. Is there maintenance on the Tru-Trac® Conveyor Belt Trackers?
Because the Tru-Trac® is a sealed unit, no maintenance is needed on the product. The only maintenance needed is to ensure that the area surrounding the Tru-Trac® is kept clean, to prevent the Tru-Trac® from either being damaged or the tracking movement being hampered by surrounding debris.

  2. At what speed can the Tru-Trac® operate?
Tru-Trac® operates on belt speeds from 1m/s to 7m/s (200f/m to 1400 f/m) and even above. This is achieved because of our large diameter bearings, which operate well within their R.P.M and load ratings.

  3. How long does the rubber last?
There are many factors, which influence the life expectancy of the rubber and this makes it impossible to predict how long it will last. The more aggressive the conditions, the more severe the tracking problem, the harder the Tru-Trac® must work, the quicker the wear. But remember the best way to achieve optimal life from the Tru-Trac® is to ensure that it is installed correctly with good tension.

  4. Can the rubber-lining be replaced on the Tru-Trac®?
The rubber-lining can not be replaced/relagged. Once the rubber-lining has worn and the Tru-Trac® is no longer performing effectively, it should be replaced with a new Tru-Trac®. Because the rubber-lining is cured to the steel drum in an autoclave the Tru-Trac® needs to be stripped, the only salvageable part depending on its condition is the inner tube and shaft, the time and cost involved in this process works out to be more expensive than building a new Tru-Trac®.

  5. What type of seal is used in the Tru-Trac®?
Deep Groove Ball Bearing 6017 ZZ (Dynamic load 49.9Kn, 5000 R.P.M.) These are sealed bearings.
    Back

  6. What type of seal is used in the Tru-Trac®?
We have specifically developed a sealing system for the Tru-Trac® to ensure effective sealing in adverse conditions. Consisting of a; Back Wipe Seal, Front Double Head Triple Lip Labyrinth Seal and a Front Wipe Seal which is packed with grease.

  7. Can Tru-Trac® work on reversible belts?
Our standard Tru-Trac® Flat Return Tracker and Dual Return Tracker does work on reversible belts. You just need to ensure that the central pivot pin (indicated by the shaft end flats) is perpendicular to the belt. For the Troughing side we have developed a reversible Tru-Trac® Trough tracker, please enquire from your supplier for more details.
    Back

  8. Can Tru-Trac® work on slow belts?
We define a slow belt as a belt which travels below 1m/s (3.3 feet). For slow belts we have developed the Tru-Trac® Low Speed Tracker. Please enquire from your supplier for more details.

  9. Can the rolls for the Tru-Trac® Dual-Return Tracker be replaced?
When rolls on Tru-Trac® Dual-Return Tracker has worn or the tracker is no longer performing effectively, the individual rolls can be replaced. (See Replacement of worn Dual-Return rolls installation animation.)

  10. Can the wing rolls and wing arms for the Tru-Trac® Trough Tracker be replaced?
Wing rolls and arms can be replaced separately when damaged or worn out. These wing rolls (available in Steel or HDPE) and arms can be ordered from your supplier.

  11. How many Tru-Trac's need to be installed on a conveyor?
The Tru-Trac® needs to be installed at areas where misalignment occurs. The Tru-Trac's effective tracking distance is approximately 50 metres (160 feet), therefore the Tru-Trac® is installed approximately every 50 to 60 meters (160 to 200 feet) per length of conveyor belt, unlike standard idlers/rollers that are installed every 3 to 6 meters (10 to 20 feet).

  12. What guarantee do we get with the Tru-Trac®?
Please enquire from your supplier for more details.

  13. Where on a conveyor do you install a Tru-Trac® Flat Return Tracker or Dual Return Tracker?
The most common places for installation are… 1) Before the tail pulley. 2) Before the take up unit/ G.T.U. 3) Or just before the area where belt misalignment occurs. Note: Do not install the Tru-Trac® between two pulleys (with an angle of wrap of greater than 30 degrees) which are less than 6m apart, the problem can be solved by installing the Tru-Trac® before the belt enters this area.

  14. Where on a conveyor do you install a Tru-Trac® Trough Tracker?
The most common places for installation are... 1) Just after the chute (never install under a chute) 2) Just before the belt goes from horizontal to incline, (noting to install the tracker before the belt lifts off the troughing idlers when the belt is running empty) or just after this area on the incline. 3) Just before the head pulley, (noting to install the tracker before transitional idlers) 4) Or just at the area where belt misalignment occurs.
